Roma have held talks with Manchester United about the prospect of taking Alexis Sanchez on loan. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has signalled his faith in Anthony Martial as a centre-forward by handing the France striker the No 9 shirt for this season and could allow Sanchez to go. The Italian transfer window closes on September 2 and Roma have been given the opportunity to take the player on a season-long loan. (Daily Telegraph)

David de Gea has still not signed his new Manchester United contract – but he is finally set to put pen-to-paper this month. De Gea’s agent Jorge Mendes was in Manchester this week to thrash out terms on a new £350,000-a-week deal. De Gea is expected to sign on for six more years. (The Sun)

Mauricio Pochettino believes winning a trophy is what will make this season a success for Tottenham. Saido Berahino has joined Belgian club Zulte Waregem on a free transfer. The 26-year-old striker has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal with an option for a further 12 months following his departure from Stoke.

Fikayo Tomori will enter contract talks with Chelsea as Frank Lampard plans to give the 21-year-old his first team chance following David Luiz’s move to Arsenal on deadline day. Arsenal stars Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are in talks over new contract extensions. Aubameyang, 30, still has two years left on his deal, which runs out in the summer of 2021. Lacazette has three years remaining until 2022 after signing on for five seasons from Lyon in 2017.
