Philippe Coutinho: Manchester United ‘have’ to broker a loan deal for Barcelona misfit, claims Adrian Durham

Manchester United ‘have to make’ a deal for Barcelona misfit Philippe Coutinho materialise before the transfer window closes on Thursday, according to Adrian Durham.

talkSPORT understands Tottenham are leading the chase for the 27-year-old, who has been told he can leave the Nou Camp.

There is also interest in Coutinho from Arsenal and Liverpool, as well as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils.

Speaking on Monday’s Drivetime, talkSPORT host Durham stated his belief that United require the former Liverpool playmaker – who only joined the Catalan giants for a whopping £142million last year – a lot more than the other interested parties.

“They absolutely need some quality in all areas of the pitch and he [Coutinho] fills that brief,” he said.

“The club with the biggest need for Coutinho is Manchester United, so surely they have to make this happen.

“Yes, it looks like it’s going to be a £25m loan fee for the season, but who knows what could happen after that?!”
