Premier League fantasy football tips: Newly promoted players you should sign for your Dream Team XI

Signing up for Dream Team’s fantasy football game is simple but your team selection might not be.

It’s fine filling up your XI with superstars but you might need to dip into the squads of the newly promoted clubs too.

Last season, Wolves finished seventh in the table and the likes of Raul Jimenez, Matt Doherty, and Joao Moutinho were superb acquisitions for managers.

This year it’s unlikely one of Aston Villa, Norwich City, an Sheffield United will do the same but it’s possible with some stars in their ranks.

Aston Villa

Jack Grealish – £2.5m

The English youngster can do it all in the centre of the pitch, creating and scoring goals, and he’s vital to Dean Smith’s squad.

If he stays fit, unlike last season, he could pitch up some nice Dream Team points.

Wesley – £2.5m

It’s a touch risky spending £22million on a striker from the Belgian top division but he might just do the business.

The Villans seem to reckon he’ll be Christian Benteke 2.0 but can he live up to that?

Matt Targett – £1.5m

Having never had a full season as a starting player, Targett has joined the Villans for £15m.

But, he did get three assists and a goal last term as he made 16 appearances for the Saints, which isn’t too shabby.

Targett is set to play a major role for Dean Smith and he could offer cheap points.

Anwar El Ghazi – £1m

Once on the books at Ajax, the Dutch winger fired the Villans into the Premier League with a goal in their 2-1 play-off final win over Derby County.

He nabbed six goals and the same amount in assists last season and could trouble top flight teams with his trickery.

Tyrone Mings – £2m

The Villa backline may resemble the land of the giants this season with 6ft 4in Bjorn Engels and 6ft 5in Mings in the centre.

We reckon this means Dean Smith might be planning to win a few set-pieces to supplement their goalscoring having lost loanee Tammy Abraham back to Chelsea.

Norwich City

Emi Buendia – £2.0m

A set-piece taker for the Canaries, we’re tipping the Argentine 22-year-old to make a splash in the Premier League.

Get on board this bargain early.

Onel Hernandez – £2.0m

Like Buendia, Hernandez got a lot of goals and assists in the Championship.

This will, obviously, go down in top flight but his form from the left flank should be considered as you make selections as he got off 2.4 shots per 90 minutes and made 1.9 key passes per 90 last season.

Max Aarons – £2.0m

Linked with big transfers to Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace this window but the Canaries have held onto their man.

The right-back has a new contract and will be attempting to justify the hype surrounding him as Norwich return to the Premier League.

He’s more than capable of getting goals and assists.

Ralf Fahrmann – £1.0m

Landing a goalkeeper on loan with eight Bundesliga seasons under their belt is impressive for a newly-promoted side.

Sure, he was displaced at Schalke last season by talented youngster Alexander Nübel but he should be a fine performer at a cheap price.

Ben Godfrey – £1.0m

With four goals and two assists in just 31 Championship appearances from centre-back, Godfrey is a possible gem.

Sheffield United

Ravel Morrison – £1.5m

Signed after a trial at Bramall Lane, the ex-Manchester United and West Ham midfielder is back in the Premier League.

Undoubtedly a star on his day, he’s a risky signing due to his unpredictability but fans will remember the day he tore Tottenham Hotspur apart at White Hart Lane.

If he can get to even half the player he showed he can be on that occasion then the Blades have a star on their hands.

Oliver Norwood – £2.0m

A promotion veteran with three in the last three seasons, he finally gets his shot at the Premier League having left Brighton and Fulham before he could play.

A set-piece specialist, he got eight assists last season and manager Chris Wilder might be hoping he can carry this on and win the Blades a point or three with his ability in these situations.

John Fleck – £2.0m

Like Norwood, Fleck was an assist machine in the Championship, he managed 10 in 2018/19.

Once a wonderkid on Football Manager, he’ll be hoping to prove his much more than slice of nostalgia to some Premier League supporters.

Jack O’Connell – £2.0m

A fine aerial combatant, he could hand you the odd goal this season, and for peanuts!

Billy Sharp – £2.0m

With 23 goals last season, Sharp sent the Blades into the Premier League.

Now in his third spell with Sheffield United, he’s getting his first proper crack at the English top flight at 33-years-old having been prolific in every other division of the Football League.
