Marko Arnautovic transfer: West Ham and Chinese Super League club Shanghai SIPG agree £25million deal

Marko Arnautovic is on the verge of securing a move to the Chinese Super League with West Ham agreeing a deal with Shanghai SIPG for the player.

The Austria international, 30, who attempted to leave east London in January before signing a new contract, is close to finalising his £25million move to the Far East, talkSPORT understands.

Arnautovic has passed his medical and now must agree personal terms with Shanghai SIPG. The transfer could be completed as early as this weekend should everything go to plan.

Manuel Pellegrini, the West Ham manager, has grown tired of the Austrian’s attitude and is happy for him to go as he believes keeping the player against his wishes would damage team morale.

Co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold are fully supportive of Pellegrini, and have reluctantly agreed to sell the 30-year-old for much less than they were offered in January.

Arnautovic performed well for West Ham since arriving from Stoke City in July 2017 for a club record fee of £20million, scoring 22 goals in 65 games.

Five strikers West Ham should target to replace Arnautovic

The forward’s brother Danijel, who is also his agent, earlier this week criticised West Ham for their treatment of the wantaway star.

Arnautovic’s brother said: “He’s not a cow or a horse which you bring to market.

“He’s a highly talented footballer who is simply being used by West Ham. He’s just a number to them.”

Having also released Andy Carroll this summer, West Ham are working hard to bring in another striker.

Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez has been heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium while West Brom man Salomon Rondon and Torino frontman Andrea Belotti have also been linked.
