Ray Parlour has told talkSPORT he is ‘shocked’ by the rumours Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has ‘said yes’ to a possible summer transfer to Manchester United.
The Gunners legend said it would be ‘madness’ to let him go and repeat the same mistake the club made with Robin van Persie.
There has been tentative gossip about Aubameyang’s Arsenal future in recent weeks.
The 30-year-old has been linked as a possible replacement for Romelu Lukaku at Old Trafford, with the Belgian tipped to leave for Inter.
It has been claimed United are planning a £70million offer for the striker, who was the joint top scorer in the Premier League with 22 goals last season.
But Parlour says he would be ‘amazed’ if the move happens, and hopes to see the Gunners star in person when he travels with the team on their pre-season tour of the United States.
“It would be madness to let him go, but players have got all the power these days,” said the Gunners legend on Friday’s Sports Breakfast.

“Aubameyang and Lacazette have been absolutely brilliant this season. It looks like they’ve got a really good relationship up front, you can see how they celebrate goals.
“I’d be amazed by that [if he signed for United], I really would. That would shock me.
“That wouldn’t be good from an Arsenal supporters’ point of view – we all remember when Robin van Persie left to United and they ended up winning the league the following season….
“When I go to pre-season, I’m really hoping Aubameyang is on that plane.
“Goalscorers are so important. Good ones are hard to find and he’s really proven he is a top class goalscorer.
“You want to be adding to your squad, not trying to get rid of a few players!”
