The Women’s World Cup and Under-21s European Championships are well under way but we also have the hit reality TV show Love Island to sink our teeth into as well.
The ITV hit is a show where a group of sexy singles gather in a villa in Majorca and ‘couple up’ with each other in a bid to find love (or stay in the game which will see the winning couple receive £50,000 and get the chance to achieve untold levels of fame).
The current series has Tyson Fury’s brother, Tommy Fury, participating in it and it has been going on for over two weeks and inevitably it’s already produced huge drama.

Reality TV stars who ditched promising careers in sport
Some are coping much better than others with the game and now that fans of the show are used to the different personalities and their character traits, this got us thinking at talkSPORT.com – if the contestants were teams from the Premier League, who would they be?
Below you can see which Premier League teams Love Island 2019’s contestants would be based on the top flight action in 2018/19.
*Ratings updated on Wednesday June 19. The fortunes of anyone on Love Island can change very quickly so we will continue updating this piece
Molly-Mae Hague – Chelsea
Towards the end of last week, Molly looked down and out as new girl Maura appeared to have wooed Tommy, who Molly is coupled up with.
However, in a dramatic twist, Tommy opted to stay with Molly when the re-coupling happened and now the pair look settled down together.
Molly’s Love Island journey is similar to Chelsea’s 2018/19 season which saw Maurizio Sarri appear on the brink of being sacked more than once, only for Sarri to surprise everyone and leave the club on his own terms by joining Juventus last weekend.
Lucie Donlan – Manchester City
Just about every bloke wanted to be with surfer Lucie at the start and it looked like she was going to live the life of Riley on Love Island after she coupled up with Joe.
But Lucie had a huge setback on Tuesday night’s episode when Joe was dumped from the villa and now she’s single.
Manchester City went through a similar setback around Christmas time when they lost two in a row but they won three trophies last season so everything turned out all right. And you get the sense things will be all right for for Lucie in the end too.
Tommy Fury – Liverpool
Light-heavyweight boxer Tommy is now in a very good position as he’s coupled up with Molly and their relationship which isn’t quite a relationship is going from strength to strength.
I may be wrong, but based on what I’ve seen from Tommy, this will not be enough. He’ll have his eyes on the big prize in Lucie, who he made a play for in the first week.
This is similar to Liverpool because Jurgen Klopp always maintained throughout the season the Reds were just focused on themselves and their own points but behind-the-scenes they were monitoring Manchester City very closely.
Joe Garratt – Arsenal
He won the battle to steal Lucie’s heart in week one but any potential relationship with her is in jeopardy after Joe was voted off the show by the British public.
He’s like Arsenal in the sense that they were looking good to make it back into the Champions League last season, especially when they went on a 22-game unbeaten run, but that all came crashing down at the end and you wonder what’s next for the Gunners and Joe.
There’s a lot of apathy towards the club’s top brass by Arsenal fans for their lack of spending in the transfer window and Joe has become unpopular with Love Island fans over his objections at Lucie having a friendship with Tommy.
Amy Hart – Leicester City
Flight attendant Amy started off the current series pretty humble and is currently in a cute pairing with ballroom dancer Curtis. They are one of the favourites to win.
And with that, we’ve seen a more competitive side to Amy – the cameras caught her grinning at seeing rivals for their Love Island crown Lucie and Joe get separated on Tuesday night’s episode.
You get the sense Amy has got her eyes on the long-term just like Leicester have under new manager Brendan Rodgers.
Leicester have also been a bit of a nemesis of Manchester City’s in recent years and this is reflected with Amy and Lucie (Man City) having come to blows on more than one occasion.
Curtis Pritchard – Burnley
But Amy’s partner Curtis does not seem so concerned with challenging for the title, much like Burnley.
He’s good, honest and hard-working at making Amy happy much like Sean Dyche has his Clarets side drilled every week.
Maura Higgins – Tottenham Hotspur
To say new girl Maura failed to make an impression when she arrived late last week would be an understatement.
It seemed as though she had won Tommy over with her very bold flirting skills but as we know he decided to stay with Molly.
Maura is remarkably similar to Tottenham because she has real potential to go far on the show but when it got to the important moment, she fell just short just like Spurs did in the Champions League final against Liverpool.
Plus her first name is pronounced exactly the same as Spurs forward Lucas Moura pronounces his surname…
Yewande Biala – Cardiff City
Scientist Yewande’s future on the show is still in huge doubt despite the fact she is coupled up with model Danny.
After a slow start, things seemed to be coming together for her when she started getting on with Danny, who arrived slightly later than the first batch of contestants.
Amazingly, Yewande expressed her doubts over the longevity of hers and Danny’s relationship so you fear that she could be relegated out of the villa soon if things don’t change quickly.
Danny Williams – Wolves
Following that curveball Yewande threw at him, Danny reacted with class by vowing to give her the space she needed.
He’s a stand-up guy and it’s obvious he has the respect of the fellow contestants just like Wolves have the respect of the other Premier League teams for their exciting brand of football.
The difference between Danny and Yewande though is that you’d back Danny to be able to cope with a setback much better than she would be able to.
Michael Griffiths – Everton
Scouser Michael is Everton for the obvious reason, although he’s not quite performing at a Liverpool level yet.
But he has got something good going with Amber and their coupling appears to be snowballing at a decent rate.
Amber Gill – Watford
Everton and Watford have a sort of unofficial partnership with Watford in that the Toffees nabbed their manager Marco Silva last summer!
But Amber is also similar to Watford because her and Michael are not one of the top couples in the sense of being favourites to win the show but something is building nicely.
You could say Amber’s improvement on the show is like the Hornets’ run in the FA Cup, which saw them reach the final of the competition.
Tom Walker – Manchester United
New boy Tom has made a good start, with Maura and Essex girl Elma showing an interest in him when he walked into the villa.
His arrival is similar to when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer first took charge of Manchester United – the Red Devils started well but it turns out there wasn’t a huge amount of substance to their success. Time will tell if that’s also the case for Tom.
Elma Pazar – Brighton & Hove Albion
Along with Joe, Elma was dumped from the villa on Tuesday night’s episode – a blow for her given she had been on the show for less than a week.
As Love Island goes on, we’re at risk of forgetting that Elma was even on the show and sometimes fans who don’t support Brighton have to remind themselves that the Seagulls are a Premier League side.
Jordan Hames – Southampton
Model Jordan came into the villa on Monday but he’s made a decent start as he’s getting on particularly well with Anna.
He was a bit late to the party, like Southampton were last season, but his arrival has made a similar impact to what Ralph Hasenhuttl made when he first came to St Mary’s.
Saints will probably be a lot better next season and you wouldn’t be surprised to see Jordan improve as he gets more settled in.
Sherif Lanre – Fulham
Semi-pro rugby player Sherif was the second person to be booted off Love Island following an incident in the villa.
It emerged that he kicked Molly in the groin before making a joke about it but Sherif insists he did it by accident.
Sherif had a lot of potential before the current series started just like Fulham did before last season but it all went a bit pear shaped for both.
Anna Vakili – Newcastle United
She appeared to be on the brink of elimination on Monday night’s episode but Anna lived to fight another day when producers decided to put her on a date with Jordan.
Beforehand, she was drifting towards danger but has hit form at the right time like Newcastle do when they try to avoid the relegation zone.
Anton Danyluk – West Ham
Bless him – Anton has shown plenty of effort when trying to flirt with the ladies but he’s just getting no luck.
In his pre-show VT, he made himself out to be the ultimate ladies man but he’s shown no evidence of having the gift thus far.
And you could say that’s similar to West Ham as there are some sections of Hammers fans who think the team is better than they actually are.
They hark back to the glory days of when Bobby Moore was around and expect the current squad perform at a similar level. It doesn’t work like that!
Callum Macleod – Huddersfield Town
Aircraft engineer Callum was the first Love Island 2019 casualty just like Huddersfield were the first team to get relegated from the Premier League last season.
Callum and Huddersfield seem nice enough but both were ultimately out of their depth and got found out.
