Adrian Durham had some words for those who still dismiss women’s football ‘out of hand’.
The talkSPORT host wanted listeners to think about a certain scenario and what they would do in that situation.
The Women’s World Cup started last week and England got off to a good start with a 2-1 win over Scotland.
Durham said: “I’m pretty disappointed I have to be talking about this in this day and age.
“If you are one of those blokes who just dismisses out of hand women’s football, including the Women’s World Cup, we are all entitled to an opinion don’t get me wrong, but if you are one of those who dismisses women’s football, who ridicules it, who criticises it or hates it then think about this.
“If you have a young daughter who comes to you at some point and says, ‘dad, I love football, I want to be a footballer when I grow up and my dream is to play for the Lionesses’, what are you going to turn around and say to her?

Darren Gough: “Exactly. You will have to see there is some good football played as well. You’ve talked about Lucy Bronze and the way she bombs down that right hand side. She’s fantastic.
“What about some of the backheels and the skills we saw from England yesterday. What were there three nutmegs in a row in the corner and then finish by Nikita Parris? It was fantastic.
Durham said: “That nutmeg from Nikita Parris, that touch was out of this world.
Gough said: “She does it on a regular basis as well.”
Durham said: “It is disappointing to see so many lamely criticise women’s football.

“I want to know what you would do gentlemen, in that scenario, your young daughter comes to you and says she wants to play for the Lionesses, what are you going to do?
